Evolution of the Modern Vector Database Architecture

Great systems often begin as simple modules solving a specific problem, then grow into complex architectures to meet needs at scale. Many of today's databases and infrastructure tools followed this path—and Milvus vector database was no different.

In this talk, Rohit Nijhawan from Zilliz will walk through how search engines have managed and retrieved unstructured data over time, and what the rise of Generative AI and agentic workflows now demands from a mature vector database. You’ll see how open-source Milvus evolved into a scalable, highly reliable architecture built to deliver rich LLM context and power highly accurate, agent-driven search applications.
